Supermarket at HAN Campus?

30-01-2012 @ 11:24:34 by Sensor

A supermarket and a recycled goods store at the HAN campus in Nijmegen? There are serious plans, according to Alexander Vijgen, vice-chairman of the faculty’s board of Economics and Management. He did research in Arnhem and Nijmegen on both existing and hypothetical facilities.

Weekly shopping

Alexander’s research showed results that one in five students and employees will make use of the store, which will probably come. Also, thirty-six per cent of the students has said to go to the supermarket on a daily basis. The percentage of employees is thirty-nine per cent for a weekly shop session.

Not in Arnhem

Because the HAN has signed a contract with caterer Cormet until 2013, possibilities to expand the assortment are looked at. The HAN is also contacting professional supermarket chains like Albert Heijn, COOP, Lidl and Spar. There will not be a professional chain at the campus in Arnhem, because there is a shopping centre only a hundred meters away.
