Britt's cannot enter USA because of tweets

07-02-2012 @ 14:03:17 by Sensor

Two British youngsters aged 24 and 26 were interrogated for hours after they entered the United States, and were sent back to Britain right after. The cause? Tweets about the ‘destroy’ of the United States and ‘digging up’ Marilyn Monroe.

'Destroy'

Leigh van Bryan and Emily Bunting travelled from England to Los Angeles to celebrate their holidays. Weeks before the departure, Leigh put a tweet online: ‘Free this week before I go and destroy Ameri-ca’. He meant to be planning to have a big party, and posted a tweet about visiting Hollywood and digging up Marilyn Monroe.

Funny thought scary experience

The security of the USA noticed the tweets and the two were interrogated for hours when they entered America and after that sent back to Britain. ‘I’ve tried to tell the guards that ‘destroy’ is a term for partying. They even searched for a shovel in my suitcase because they read about digging up Marilyn Monroe. It sounds funny, but is was scary back then,’ Leigh explains in The Sun newspaper.
