Amsterdam distributes own study grants

From April 2012 on, students with a low income can apply for a study grant in Amsterdam, distributed by the Municipal Finance Company. For this year, there is money to distribute 250 study grants but Amsterdam wants to make it more.

Loan at low-interest for poor students

If you graduate for an recognized diploma, a part of the loan is changed in a gift. The other part will be paid back at low interest. The grants are on the initiative of Pam de Soete, member of the Democrats Party. The money is meant for poor students and female immigrants who don’t receive money from the state. ‘Good for the student and good for the city’, De Soete says.
