Party for Freedom wants to get rid of international students

30-11-2011 @ 12:58:35 by Sensor

‘Remove all international students’… says who? The Party of Freedom (PVV). ‘They are taking the spaces of the Dutch students’, is what party chairman Geert Wilders and his followers say.

No room

There is a shortage of students’ rooms in the Netherlands, and therefore the stream of students towards the Netherlands should be limited, says PVV-member Eric Lucassen. He wants to know from the minister for Foreign Affairs what he is going to do about this problem.

'Search for your own accomoddation'

Lucassen doesn’t know the exact numbers of foreign students who have found accommodation in Dutch students’ rooms. But he says that landlords reserve approximately 10 per cent of their estates for foreign students. ‘And I hear that this is an upcoming trend. If you think about the 30.000 German students who are studying in the Netherlands, I don't see why they should have a room reserved for them here. Germany is very close to Holland, so they should be able to find a room themselves.
