The HAN is changing. All departments are re-structured, the HAN-KAN marathon is crossed off the list the HAN-magazine might be dropped from the budget and there are lots of budget cuts. At the same time, more budget is spend on real education instead of the ‘overhead’; management, care-takers, Sensor, board of governors etc. According to Ron Bormans, chairman of the board of governors, it will all fit in.
Bormans: Not bad, but not good enough

Not good enough
Bormans: ‘You could say that the HAN is given enough credits, we are often praised by professionals, but students consider us to be an average school. That is not bad, but yet not good enough.’
Making choices
‘There are certain challenges: to create more challenging study environments, to get to a higher level of exams and assessments, profiling and more. But we have to reach all this with the same amount of money or even less money. With the goal to improve the quality of education, we must make choices which are not easy but still necessary.’
The end of some studies?
‘We have to look closely to activities which are less necessary for the improvement of our education. We want to be a regional well-accessible University, but the question is whether we should maintain the number of bachelors we currently offer. Another question is whether all studies will remain within the HAN’s selection.
