HAN-men dance!

10-10-2011 @ 11:40:18 by Sensor

How can you get men willingly to dance? Better said: how can you get Turkish men to dance?

El-Ele

HAN Trainee Bilge Demirel motivated men of the traditional Turkish dance-group El-Ele to participate in a project in which professional and amateur artists create diverse dance performances.

Turkish Dance

The Turkish men from El-Ele, amongst which students of International Business and Architecture performed together with an Indian company in the Walburgis church in Arnhem. How did Bilge do it? ‘I had very personal conversations with the participants. Finally, we had just enough participants. They loved to do it, but in the end their hearts beat for Turkish dance.’

What was the added value of this project?

‘There is a lot of talent within amateur groups. This way, it is made visible. I also learned that you can really achieve something within a short time and with a lot of effort.’
