HAN-employee devoted to a good cause

29-09-2011 @ 14:24:21 by Sensor

Marisha Maas, canteen-employee at the Kapittelweg in Nijmegen, is also coordinator of Y’abal Handicrafts, a friendly project in Guatemala. In Guatemala, women create fashion- and decoration accesso-ries, which they make their money with.

World Prize

Marisha is with this project participating in the World Prize contest, an online voting contest with which she might win 10,000 Euros for her project. The contest has finished, and it is still unclear whether Marisha has won….

Hope

Y’abal means hope. In the project in Guatemala, eighty Maya-women work for a reasonable loan on traditional products, hand-made scarfs, leather bags and more colourful accessories. Marisha started this project in Guatemale, and linked a webshop to it in the Netherlands.
