Dennis Werkhoven goes London!!!

A real star he is, Dennis Werkhoven, second-year student Embedded Systems Engineering. He and his team got so far in the competition ‘Subject toppers’ that he may go to London for the World Skills 2011-competition, from the 1st till the 10th of October.
 

International competition

The Subject-topper competitions are profession competitions within the area of Technology for new talents of Regional Training Centers and companies. The qualification competitions are held in the Netherlands, the winners continue the adventure during the Worldskills competition. This competition has 1200 participants from all over the world.

MiniBike

Dennis is participant in the part Manufacturing Team Challenge. He studied Electrical Engineering. His teammates and he got the task to design a minibike, a very small motorbike. It is about a machine which you cannot sit on yet, but it should be able to carry 100 kilos. Moreover, the minibike should be able to run up a hill. In short, many many demands to consider. The team has been working on this task for quite a while, and at the Worldskills competition in London, they will get another surprise task.

Lucky dog

Dennis is a lucky dog. Besides going to London, is team also went to Australia for practice competitions. His talent was already discovered there. Dennis is happy as can be, and he should be, as this is the chance of a lifetime. It takes time and effort, while Dennis gets no compensation at all.
‘I am doing this for the prize and the honour’, he says. ‘And it’s good for my CV’.
