Students rather spend on partying instead of books

02-09-2011 @ 14:53:32 by Sensor

The new school year has begun, but students don’t seem so willingly to spend their money on their studies. They rather spend their budget on house rent and partying. The average student spends six times more money in the bar than on study books.

Budget research

This was the result of a research carried out by bol.com (online bookstore) and Mare Research. They researched the study behaviour and money spending-behaviour of more than 500 students.

Easy living

The research shows that students have no difficulties in getting by. 37 per cent says to be having no problems, 43 per cent says to be able to ‘just’ manage it. Remarkable is the result that students living away from home have less problems to get by, compared to students who live at home.

Secondhand

From the students who don’t want to spend money on study books, the majority buys second-hand books. 34 per cent of them borrows books from their peers. When buying books, students keep the price and easiness in mind. 48 per cent chooses an online book shop, as long as they can find what they are looking for.
