Students: 'what is chlamydia?'

15-06-2011 @ 13:53:59 by Marijn Hondorp

For the average student, sexuality is not really an unknown item…But research shows that few higher educational students know how to avoid a chlamydia infection. They show an unconcerned attitude towards sex and don’t use enough condoms.

Students in Breda diagnosed

These were the results of a research carried out by the Area Health Authority (GGD) West-Brabant. They did a pilot-research on the rate of chlamydia amongst second-year students in Breda. The per-centage of positive Chlamydia-diagnoses was 8.2 %.

Ignorace all over

Students are the high-risk group to get an STD (sexual transferable disease) such as Chlamydia be-cause they use relatively few condoms and few knowledge about the diseases. Only 32 per cent of the students used a condom during their last sexual intercourse. 30 per cent said not to know how to avoid a chlamydia infection.

This is chlamydia

Chlamydia is a sexually transferable disease, which is caused by a bacteria. This STD can lead to infertility to women. This means no babies! Students, be warned!
