Students more and more debts.

06-07-2011 @ 15:38:27 by Marijn Hondorp

More and more students borrow money, and more students borrow MORE money… This means that there is a huge study debt for the Netherlands. Which factors determine the borrowing of students?

Increase of amount

The number of students who borrow has increased during the last few years. This was stated by the SEO Economical Research organization, after research. The amount of money to be borrowed has also increased to nearly 50 %, from approximately 7500 Euros to 12.200 Euros. University students borrow more money than higher college students. One reason for this is because their study takes more time, which causes their debts to rise.

Men and women

Differences occur as well between men and women. There are more men who have debts compared to women (53% against 49%). These men borrow more money as well. Men in Universities borrow more money and have higher debts compared to men in higher colleges.
