Students who live in digs (away from home), get fatter. Especially when they join a students’ union.
Gaining pounds
Students who join a students’ union in the period they are living away from home, gain 2.1 kilos during the first months. Students living in digs but not joining a students’ union gained 1.2 kilos. There are students who gained 8 kilos in three months… We say; WOW!
Fatties in Groningen
Students who live with their parents keep the same weight. This was a result of a research carried out by the Hospital in Groningen. They started the research after they had seen yearbooks from different students’ unions. The researchers saw students in pictures getting fatter and fatter over the years.
