Student Angelique Vergeer says no to National Team

17-06-2011 @ 11:55:04 by Marijn Hondorp

The National Ladies team wanted to have her, but volleyball player Angelique Vergeer rejected the offer. She is too busy.

'Can't do volleyball for a living'

HAN-student Angelique Verweer rejected the offer to become part of the National Ladies team, be-cause she is too busy. She spends her time on her volleyball club VC Weert (with which she became National Champion last week), but she is also very busy with her course Creative Therapy at the HAN. ‘I can’t only play volleyball for a living’.

Besides winning the National Championship Volleyball, Angelique also won the cup. Therefore, it isn’t strange or unexpected Angelique got an invitation to join the National team. She said no, and has clear reasons to do so: she wants to keep up her social life and her study at the HAN. ‘I already spend 25 hours a week on volleyball. If I joined the National Team, it would take even more time’.

Watch the summary of the Champion’s Match Pollux-SC Weert, and a short interview with Angelique (in Dutch)
