Don't use pep pills!

29-06-2011 @ 11:35:35 by Marijn Hondorp

We agree: sometimes there is a lot of stress preceding a test or a period of tests. But taking pep pills to avoid the stressing and fussing, goes a little bit too far according to the University of Leuven.

Ritalin

The University states that the use of the popular Ritalin (a pep pill) is inappropriate with healthy stu-dents who use the pill to be able to study better. It is irresponsible use of unnecessary pills.

Psychosis

‘These pills bring more rest to patients with ADHD, but it can make healthy people very stressed and agitated. In the worst case, these students can become addicted and suffer from psychoses’, the Belgian University explains.

Not for ordinary sale

The use of Ritalin is very popular among students. Also in the Netherland. But you cannot buy the stuff everywhere, so students are searching on the internet and inside shabby pubs to get it. ‘That is highly disturbing, because it is possible that they get a placebo, a fake-medicine. In some cases this doesn’t have any effect but in some cases it is made of dangerous trash.’
