Definite end for national bus card

29-06-2011 @ 11:11:20 by Marijn Hondorp

The bus card will officially be past time in a few weeks time. It first looked like this measure would be postponed, because the Social Party, the Green Party and the Labour Party wanted it this way, but eventually the Party for Freedom choose the side of the coalition. Result: action will be taken to end the bus card.

No postponement

The opposition parties were hoping to postpone the end of the bus card, by demanding that the problems with the public transport chip card would be solved first. Because of the twist the Party for Freedom made, this chance is gone.

Old bus cards are worthless

On 30 June, the bus card will come to an end in a few counties. The rest of the country will follow on 7 July. In the meantime, we will have to wait for improvements of the chip card. The remaining bus cards are useless and worthless, according to minister Schultz van Haegen (Traffic). They are non-refundable and have to be thrown away.
