Valuable contacts made at ABS Talent Event

31-05-2011 @ 10:33:13 by Marijn Hondorp

‘The first ABS Talent Event has been very successful’, Erna Helsen concludes. Erna is head of Inter-national Relations at the Arnhem Business School. ‘We are pleased that our main objective has been achieved; to create an opportunity for academics, international teachers and students to make new contacts, renew acquaintances and learn more about the Arnhem Business School.’

Obligatory event in future

The event, which lasted three days and had twenty five guests flown in from partnering universities, was held for the first time, but has proven to be worthy of repeating. ‘Obviously we noticed points of improvement, since it was the first time this event was set up, but overall we received enthusiastic responses from our guests and students. We are now strongly considering implementing this event as an obligatory element of the ABS-studies.’

Hidden battle

During the event, students from all five English bachelor programs presented group projects to an international panel, adding a challenging international dimension to the students’ assignments. The winning group, consisting of Karin Axelsson, Merel Hudepohl and Sven Reiffers (all second year stu-dents of Communication Studies) are thrilled to have won. Sven: ‘We didn’t realize it was a battle, until the day of the presentation. We prepared our presentation thoroughly nonetheless and ppreciated both the praise and constructive criticism we received from the panel. I think it would be a great idea to implement this event into the study program. I’ve also made valuable contacts for future endeavors.’
