Teachers obliged to assess each other

Teachers in higher vocational education will have to assess other teachers in the future. This was announced by State Secretary of Education Halbe Zijlstra. Zijlstra wants teachers to be assessed by their colleagues once or twice a year. This will improve the quality of education in the future.

Alarming signals

The measure is stated in the action-plan Teacher 2020, which has to improve the quality of education during the next few years. The idea is that the results of a teacher’s assessments go straight to the national inspection. When this inspection receives alarming signals, they can take further measures to avoid any situations such those which occurred at InHolland.
