Students sell sustainable shower-clock

09-06-2011 @ 16:56:28 by Marijn Hondorp

A few students of the Sports, Health and Management course started a student company, to design and sell a sustainable shower clock online: The ShowerTime.

For sale in England

The manager of the company is Jan Schutte, second-year-student SHM. ‘We wanted to develop a sustainable and practical product and invented the ShowerTime. This shower clock has already been on the market in England for a few months, but not yet in Holland’.

Save water

According to Jan, it isn’t an ordinary shower clock. This clock shows on a display how much water is used. There is an alarm which you can adjust to the number of liters you want to use. When somebody takes a shower for only one minute every day, it saves fourteen Euros a year. Imagine how many Euros a whole family would save. The clock itself costs 12,50 Euros.

The students promote their product with flyers and a website. They have also contacted Essent. This energy company reacted enthusiastically and is thinking about using the ShowerTime for a saving-project or another action.
