How did that come about? International students who chose to do the Events Management minor organized a party to raise funds for a Dutch charity called Stichting Hulp Wadduwa (SHW). Named after a town in Sri Lanka, SHW has been doing great work in and for the citizens of Wadduwa and is now trying to build a computer lab at a local high school there.
Korenmarkt in Arnhem
To get the attention of students and staff at HAN Business School, the Events Management students decided to organize a geek partyat Plaza, one of the many clubs at the Korenmarkt in Arnhem. The management was kind enough to offer their club to the students free of charge for one evening.
Dressed as geek!
With a low entrance fee of just three Euros, lots of students came down to the Korenmarkt, dressed up as nerds. During the evening a raffle was held, in which contestants could win prizes like sweaters, T-shirts or beach towels. These prizes had also been donated. At the moment of writing it is not known how much has been raised, but we’re sure the people of Wadduwa will be helped.
