Happy Ascension Day!

01-06-2011 @ 14:00:49 by Marijn Hondorp

Jay, Jay! We got two days off! Students and employees are sent home because the HAN will be closed the rest of this week. Why? Because it’s Ascension Day!

What the...?

Never heard of Ascension Day? Let us educate you… a bit.

Ascension Day in the Netherlands remembers Jesus’ bodily ascension to heaven the time when fol-lowing his crucifixion and resurrection. It is the 40th day of Easter and is always on a Thursday. Some devote Christians make a special effort to attend a church service on Ascension Day. For others it is just a day off work to enjoy an early morning walk or cycle ride in the spring weather or carry out household maintenance… or sleep out like students do!
