Solar bike for Africa

A group of HAN-students has developed an electrical bicycle for Afrika: the SEPbike (Solar Powered Bike). It was designed by students Mark Hartman, Erwin van Bockhoven en Mathijs van Beers.
Carrier bicycles for Kenia on solar energy
The design is a basic bicycle with a box attached to it. By using solar energy, an electric pedal can be built in, without the use of any expensive batteries. The SEPbike has capacity to provide for many transport necessities. Small companies and traders in Kenia can with this adapted carries cycle trans-port more goods, and work for a better future efficiently.
Competition for a better future
On behalf of the HAN, the SEPbike has subscribed to the African Bicycle Design Contest. After a strict selection, the winners are allowed to work out their bike-idea and design a prototype. The winning prototype will be produced in Kenia, with low costs. Youngsters from the African area will be educated to produce the bikes themselves, with help of the winning team.
