In 2016 train line Arnhem-Ruhr Area (Germany)

22-04-2011 @ 14:22:37 by Marijn Hondorp

Good news for the HAN and its German students! The plan is to have a train line between Emmerich and Arnhem, by the year 2016. The Ruhr Area will be more accessible and that is good news for many German students!

2016 is the year

In December 2016, there should be direct connections between Emmerich, Zevenaar and Arnhem. That is the ambition of the Verhehrsverbund Rhein Ruhr (VRR), a German cooperation bond of public transport companies, which will be responsible for the train line between the Ruhr Area and Arnhem.

Ruhr Area better accessible

Besides this plan, the VRR wants to have more trains between the German places Bochelt and Wesel. The train between those two places has to be electrified, the frequency increased and the train will have to drive until Oberhausen or Duisburg, two important traffic junctions in the Ruhr Area.

Spit-up

For the current connection via Emmerich, the VRR wants to split up the current connection between Koblez and Emmerich: Koblenz-Düsseldorf and Düsseldorf-Arnhem.
