Gambian minister visits HAN

22-04-2011 @ 14:09:41 by Marijn Hondorp

Only a week ago, a Gambian delegation and the Gambian minister of Foreign Affairs travelled to Holland, with many cars in a row and lots of policemen to guide them, to the campus of the HAN in Nijmegen. The delegation was welcomed by Rob Schuurman, coordinator from the course Nursing and part of the organising team of this unusual visit.

Working placement in Gambia

One of the subjects which the delegation talk about within the meeting are the relationship between Gambia and the Netherlands, and the opportunity for Dutch students to do a working placement in Gambian hospitals or community centres, to help the Gambian inhabitants. Gambia has great demand for trainees. Two present students from the Nursing course have the privilege to travel to Gambia soon, to do a working placement. The meeting goes on, but the words of Rob Schuurman will be remembered: ‘Living in Holland is living in luxury.’
