One thousand, the magical number
The organization of the HAN-KAN relay race and marathon tries to get one thousand participants next month. Last year, almost 700 people participated in the running-match between Arnhem and Nijmegen.
New date this year
This year, The HAN organizes the running-event for the sixth time. During other years, the event was held in May, during Mother’s day. That date appeared to be inconvenient. The date has been moved to 10 April this year. The organization says this to be a risk, because there are more competitive running events during early April. Moreover, runners who have been participating since long time, have to get used to the new date.
Want to join the race?
Runners can subscribe themselves for the relay race of 10 kilometers (with four participants), the marathon (half, with two participants) or the whole marathon. On Sunday 10 April, participants can still subscribe until 8.30 am.
The Municipal counselor of Nijmegen Floris Tas and his colleague Gerrie Elferink from Arnhem will together run the first distance, from Arnhem to Huissen. There, mayor Harry de Vries will continue.
