Next study impossible for students

28-03-2011 @ 13:46:06 by Marijn Hondorp

Bad news for HBO-students who want to do a next or follow-up study. They will have to come up with a huge amount of money to follow a Master study. The Universities, from now on, will charge school fees from 9000 Euros.

Against the rules?

This amount was 1731 Euros. It will become almost impossible for students to do a next study. Moreover, the students lose their travel cards and study grant. This was announced last week by State Secretary Zijlstra. Thousands of students will be victims of this new law. The Government does not pay the school fees for a follow-up study anymore, so the students will be charged for this. Politicians would like to have more clarity of the law, because the new law seems to be against older laws. Former Minister Plasterk made the arrangement that students can study further by paying their normal school fees.
