Dutch students prefer Belgium

More and more Dutch students want to go study in Flanders (Vlaanderen). Reason for this preference is the planned cutbacks by the cabinet of the new Prime Minister Rutten.
No more study grants
If the cut-backs will be carried out during the next few years, Dutch master-students will no longer receive any study grant at all. A second master can cost you 14,000 Euros from that time on. In Flanders, the study costs are relatively low: all students pay a college fee of 570 Euros a year. Any further costs because you have a study delay are exceptional.
Several Flemish Universities have been seeing their number of Dutch students grow already. At the moment, five per cent of the students is Dutch. The number will only rise more because Dutch students can’t afford their Dutch
