Tips and Tricks

28-01-2011 @ 20:48:06 by Marijn Hondorp

Sensor's Marijn will be surviving in the United Kingdom from January until April this year. Studying at a new University and living in England isn't always easy. With sharing tips and tricks to make life in the UK as comfortable as can be, she tries to find her way on the other side of the sea.

Bumping into the English

As we all know, cars and buses drive on the left side of the road. This is quite strange when you are not used to it, but as a matter of fact you actually will get used to it when you sit on the bus every day. You even learn which side to look when you try to cross the street.
Anyway, because of driving on the left side is just the way it is here, people tend to walk on the left side of the pavenments and corridors inside buildings as well.. This means that you have to adapt and be very careful! I bumped into people several times because I walked (naturally) on the right side!

So whenever you are in a left-side country, always remember to walk left too!
