Number of female students rises

24-11-2010 @ 12:18:01 by Marijn Hondorp

Holland seems to be an attractive country for studying to women. They form sixty per cent of the foreign students in higher education. Approximately 47,000 foreign students study in Holland, two-third of which derive from EU-countries. Within Europe, Germany is on the lead with 20.800 students, and beyond the European borders is China, with 3.700 students. Seventy-five per cent of the foreign students follow a bachelor study. These conclusions were published by Nuffic, the Dutch organization for international cooperation in higher education.

Dutch abroad

In 2006-2007, almost 15,000 Dutch students studied abroad. This number of students was much higher compared to 2004-2005. Another 27,000 students did part of their study or traineeship abroad. The United Kingdom en Belgium were the most popular places.

Popular studies

At the moment, the studies of scientific agriculture and Language & Culture are pulling the highest percentages of foreign students towards Holland. Other popular studies are economic, technological and educational studies.
