EcoTuk battles to win 100,000 dollars

12-10-2010 @ 12:15:17 by Marijn Hondorp

The energy-saving EcoTuk from graduated HAN-students will represent Holland during the interna-tional finale of the Cleantech Open Ideas Competition in San Francisco on 17 November.

First prize

During the national finale, the jury decided the EcoTuk to be the best candidate to represent Holland. The former Car Engineering students have the chance to win the first prize, which is 100,000 Dollars. ‘That is approximately 73.500 Euros’, Rick Schuurman, one of the ex-students laughs.

Publicity

The former students don’t know yet how many participants have been selected for the finale. ‘I hope only two participants’, Rick smiles. ‘It would be very nice if we win’. The students can use the money well for the further development of the EcoTuk. ‘A pity if we don’t win’, Gholan Farman says. ‘But at least we get a lot of free publicity for this event, which gets a lot of attention in America. That is also worth much money.’
