Beer management

The first month has passed… time flies and get a good rest at night isn't my biggest priority. As I wrote in my first column, the motto here is: 'Moscow never sleeps'. And that is exactly what I am trying to do. Moscow's nightlife is 'kruta', which means 'awesome'!
Beer beer beer
At Tuesday nights we have privo-management. (beer management). This means that we, as international students, reserve a couple of tables in a bar near the red square and drink beer, have fun with approximately 20 to 30 persons. After that, it is possible to continue in the city or to make sure your back in the dormitory before 1 o' clock, as I explained in my previous column. Often we choose for the latter and we party on Thursdays and Saturdays till seven o'clock in the morning.
Cheap taxi
Because we mostly go out with a big group, it is not always easy to get in to pubs and clubs. There are bouncers standing in front of every bar of club in Moscow, and all of them take their jobs very seriously. They like to show that they are the boss. The consequence for us is that the group splits up and everyone is going somewhere else. The transport here is generally a 'black' taxi which brings you to your desired spot for four or five Euros. That is to say, approximately one Euro per person for a taxi ride.
Dresscodes and gogo-girls
In the clubs the way of going out is totally different from Nijmegen, where I go to 'TweeKeerBellen' with friends, a club many of you students will know. Here, in Moscow, the bars and clubs are from a different level. Everywhere there is 'face control', so you have to look appropriate and well-cared-for to get in. For men it means that you have to wear a neat sweater, shirt or blouse and the females wear dresses and high heels most of the times. Not bad at all…And last but not least: most bars and clubs have gogo-dancers, scantily-dressed girls who dance upon the bars. You understand I am really enjoying myself here!
