Sooooo contented...

Last year all students of the HAN received the invitation to fill in the National Students Questionnaire 2010. The results have increased this year, spectacularly…
Results of the Questionnaire
The results of the questionnaire are amazing. This year, the rate of contentment is more than 80 per cent, where it was 75 per cent last year. There were many complaints about the time-schedules, and because of dealing with this problem, the rate of contentment about the time-schedules increased from 61 percent to 80 percent. Council chairman Ron Boormans is also contented: ‘You can see that we invested in the subjects of the complaints, like we did with the time-schedules. The grades of those subjects are now very good’.
International students less contented?
Students are very satisfied with their teachers, but this nothing compared to the caretakers and the employees of the reception and behind other desks. There are more striking details: international students are less contented than the Dutch students, and also the facilities for disabled students are not that well-praised. In general, the part-time students and the first year students are the most contented.
Lowest and highest scores
The institute with the lowest score is the institute of Paramedical Studies. The highest score is given to the master programmes of the institute of Society and Behaviour. The students are very satisfied with the programmes, just like the students of the Secondary Teacher Training Course of English, who are with 97 percent very contented.
Still work to do!
Twenty-seven per cent of the students is not happy about the possibility to determine the contents of the study for themselves. Also, the reachability of the teachers is lower appreciated than last year. One question in the questionnaire was about the assessment of scientific articles written by students, and 42 per cent answered negatively. Ron Bormans: This is a serious signal which we should take seriously. We want to raise the level, we want to become a University of Applied Science, that is our big task and challenge. We also have a new ambition for next year, because in general there is still 20 per cent not contented. We want to increase the percentage and make it 90 per cent for next year!’
