In Love

16-06-2010 @ 15:58:40 by Marijn Hondorp

Gilbert Klumpenaar fell in love with Machu Picchu...

Last but not least

This is the last I am writing about my traineeship in Peru. The time passed so quickly…and I can recommend everybody to do a traineeship abroad. You meet many new people and besides that you see a lot of beautiful things. I visited one of Wonders of the World recently, for example: Machu Picchu, one of the most impressive places I have ever seen. That place is already beautiful on a picture, but when you see it in reality, it is in-cre-di-ble!

Old Inca influence

Machu Picchu lies on the top of a mountain and it cannot be seen from the ground. It is therefore no wonder that the Spanish didn’t find the place during the colonization of South-America. It is a very special place and definitely a place everyone once should visit. Machu Picchu has a certain character which cannot be described. After nine hours of walking around, I hadn’t had enough yet, but all comes to an end… Afterwards I went to the city of Cusco, in the neighbourhood of Machu Picchu. Cusco is also worth your visit because the city was built on the old Inca foundations. This city too has a special character. Because of the height (3360), your body needs time to adjust. But you have to allow yourself the time, because there is so much to see in Cusco.

Peru has it alll!

After having seen Machu Picchu, the Titicaca lake and many other places, I have fallen in Love with Peru. Peru is a country that really has it all: sea, dessert, mountains and a tropical rainforest. Peru has something to suit all tastes. I haven’t seen all the areas at all, which is not that strange: Peru is thirty-five times bigger than Holland. The inhabitants are friendly and helpful, which gives you an extra warm and comfortable feeling. The traineeship was very educative and useful, the country is amazing. In short: an excellent traineeship! To be recommended!

Have a nice Holiday!
