Especially German students to Holland

19-01-2010 @ 12:16:52 by Sensor

The amount of German students increased with a few thousands in the last years, while less Chinese students are coming to Holland. These were results of the research from the National Bureau of Statistics.

Growth

Dutch higher education colleges and universities counted twelve thousand German students in the years 2005/2006. Last year, the amount was nineteen thousand. Within higher educational colleges the amount increased with nearly fifty per cent, within universities it increased with 25 per cent.

Where are the Chinese?

Comparing: In the same period the amount of Dutch students increased with less than 6 per cent. The amount of German students therefore became a percentage of 3 per cent instead of 2 per cent. The amount of Chinese students reduced in this period from 3380 to 3470 students.

Many foreign students

More than forty per cent of the foreign students in Holland are from Germany. China en Belgium, the numbers two and three, follow with a great distance. Nearly 45 thousand foreign students were registered to a Dutch university or college: 28 per cent more than the year before.

Popular studies

Psychology (23 per cent) and Business studies (22 per cent) are most populair amongst Germans in university. Within the higher educational colleges, the Social studies were most popular (41 per cent)

Female

The majority of the foreign students is female, respectively 60 per cent and 54 per cent in university and college, although this is not the same everywhere. 75 per cent of the Russian students in university is female, but from the Pakistan students only 8 per cent is female.
