Ron Bormans in advisory committee higher education

08-10-2009 @ 12:41:31 by Sensor

Chairman of the executive board Ron Borman has been appointed by minister Plasterk in the committee which will advise the minister about the future of higher education in Holland. The committee ‘Future-proof higher education-system’ investigates whether the current system is equipped enough to face the future.

An honorable case

Bormans: ‘It appeals to me how this important subject is placed on the agenda. We have been debated for a long time about the system of higher education but those debates always drop dead because of several delicacies. Now we are taking the chance to analyze whether we are able to serve the big numbers of students with different learning-styles, motivations and backgrounds well with the current higher education. And if we found out we have to do something about it, we will introduce a system which will be internationally comprehensible and which shows a lot of ambition. I find it honorable to think along about that.

The committee members

The committee exists out of former-minister of Agriculture and Nature Cees Veerman, Social Economical Board chairman Alexander Rinnooy-Kan, Koen Geven, former chairman Europen Students, Bob Berdahl, former board chairman of Berkley University and Ellen Hazelkorn, director of Research and Enterprise and Dean of the Graduate Research School of the Dublin Institute of Technology. The committee will present its advice in February 2010.
