More environment-friendly and sometimes faster

The HAN in Arnhem has made use of cycle-couriers since last summer. The cycle-couriers deliver the internal mail between the HAN-locations in Arnhem. Sounds as if this is something new, but it is not.
Image of the HAN: environment-friendly
In Nijmegen, the fast couriers of Velocity have been made us of for the last two years. In Arnhem, these fit cyclists of Cycloon Fietskoeriers deliver the HAN-mail. ‘The cyclists substitute other deliverers,’ Anita de Thours, policy adviser General and Technical Support Services, explains. ‘We have a mail room in Arnhem and Nijmegen. If one employee gets ill or goes on a holiday, we have a continuation problem. This problem is solved by putting the cycle couriers into action. We ended up with the cycle couriers, because this is a healthy and environment-friendly way of transporting mail, which suits the image of the HAN.’
Men with huge post-bags
A distinction can be made between the fast and the less fast couriers. The fast men flash by on their race-cycles with only one rucksack as luggage. But there are also modern transport cycles with space for a big post-bag which can carry one hundred kilos of mail.
The men in their tight suits like their jobs so well that they cycle their rounds on a daily basis. De Thours: ‘The couriers are most of the times faster than the delivery vans, especially with all the work on traffic constructions in both cities.’
