From final presentation to art exhibition

10-07-2009 @ 15:58:28 by Sensor

The HAN has got a new event: New Juice, an art & technology event. Students of ICA (Computer Science, Communication and Media) and other young artists from the neighbourhood had the chance to show their art, from sculptures to paintings to interactive installations, for two days in the beautiful location of the Historische Kelders (translated: historic cellars) in the town centre of Arnhem.

Historische Kelders

The idea arose when several minor ICA-students were brainstorming and discovered that it would be very boring to show the presentations of their creations at school. Why not at an appealing location? ‘When we saw the Historische Kelders, we were hooked’, Diederik Vrijhoef, fourth-year student, smiles. ‘And when we noticed how much space it had, we found it a great idea to let the space be filled up by young artists from the neighbourhood.’ The organizers tried to represent all the disciplines from the world of art. ‘I think they definitely managed’.

Final products

The aim is to make an annual art event of the presentations of the final products, in the future. Whether the Historische Kelders may form the setting again next year, is yet unclear.
